My Options
If you find yourself dealing with a surprise pregnancy you are definitely not alone. Millions of women across the country find themselves pregnant unexpectedly and need help coming to terms with their situation. And not unlike you, these women also need guidance through making a realistic plan for the future of their unborn child and for themselves.
We recommend first that you discuss your feelings and options with your partner, close friends, or family members who will be unbiased and supportive. If you’re not ready to tell people you know or don't know anyone who you feel comfortable talking with, there are a lot of organizations that offer free counseling and help to women faced with an unplanned pregnancy, including the Independent Adoption Center.
If you want to talk with your partner and/or friends and family but don’t know how, visit "Breaking the News" or get personal advice from a professional IAC Counselor.
Now that you have a baby growing inside of you it is very important that you make a smart decision that is best for you and best for your child.
Your three options are parenting, adoption and abortion. The Independent Adoption Center (IAC), creator of I Heart Adoption, is an infant open adoption agency and the I Heart Adoption website is designed to educate women about open adoption and offer an easy, confidential, zero pressure method of getting advice and support.
Even though the IAC advocates the benefits of open adoption, we are aware that other options are available and believe that each woman should get as much information as possible about all her options before she makes a decision that she will live with the rest of her life.

Parenting
Having a baby and raising him/her is definitely an option. Becoming a parent is a joyful and rewarding experience that only you can decide that you are ready for. Babies are very cute and fun to play with, but as the saying goes, being a parent is "the hardest job in the world" and it's not one to be taken lightly. It takes time, money, maturity and sacrifice. It is especially crucial that you talk with your partner and your family if you are considering parenting.

Adoption
Placing a child with another family to raise is a loving option if you are not prepared to parent your child, but it is still a difficult decision. Please learn more about open adoption on the I Heart Adoption website. Hear stories from real IAC birthparents, request a free info packet, or contact an IAC counselor to find out if open adoption is right for you.

Abortion
Abortion is a medical procedure that terminates a pregnancy. There are certain restrictions and side effects from abortion that it is important for you to learn about. If you are considering this option, get information from your doctor or visit your local Planned Parenthood for non-biased advice.
