My Career

I am an Elementary School Teacher and I absolutely adore my students. I have taught at the same school for thirteen years. I teach 4th graders but have worked with students from grades K- 8 over the year. Teaching affords me somewhat of a flexible schedule during the school year and summers free for family trips and quality time to spend with my child. Working close to home allows me flexibility. I plan to take off as much time as possible, but when I do return to work I will be able to come home for midday feedings. Being a teacher also affords me several hours of the day to be at home in the afternoons and many days off each year to spend quality family time together. When my child transitions to school I look forward to helping with homework, going on field trips, and doing all the things I see my students’ parents doing.

Hello

I am Darlene from Concord, California. I am truly honored to have you consider me as an adoptive parent for your child. Considering open adoption is a decision filled with love and emotions. My Dream, My Hope

My dream is simple.
I want to be someone's Momma.
I want to share all the love I have with a child of my own and
watch as he or she grows into a wonderful, loving, person!

I’d like you to know that there is nothing more that I want in this world than to be someone’s Momma. I want to create a space in this world where my child feels an abundance of love, security, and that he or she is surrounded by family. I want my child to know silly laughter and learn to make friendships which will last a lifetime. I want to watch as my child discovers amazing things in the world and questions it all while exercising the endless capacities of his or her mind. I want my child to learn right from wrong, how to help others, and be responsible for making our world just a little better place. I want my child to know God. I want my child to feel love. I can’t wait to take part in this incredible journey of a child’s life.
I hope that through open adoption you and I will carve out a beautiful relationship of mutual respect and love as we take part in the journey of this amazing child.

Just a Californian at Heart

Just a Californian at Heart

I am a fourth generation Californian and I love absolutely everything about our state. Both sides of my family have strong roots in the Christian Faith, which has been passed on to me and, in turn, I am looking forward to sharing my faith with a child. I have been raised by two loving parents whose commitment to each other and our family has been a wonderful example to me of how to raise a family. I have twin brothers with whom I am close. One brother lives with me. We all spend a lot of time together and there is always a lot of laughter and endless practical jokes.

I enjoy traveling, theater, home improvement, reading, sewing, computer work, board games, photography, and going to professional sports games. I can’t wait to show my child all the sights and sounds of California; from weekends at the coast to seeing snow for the first time in the Sierra Nevada mountains; to cheering on the A’s, or listening to music in the park while we sample fresh berries from the farmers market. I am excited to be a mother and look forward to reading bedtime stories, teaching prayers, coaching baseball, and cheering on my child in every activity in which he or she takes interest.

My English Springer Spaniel Jake and I love to go on walks and experience the natural world around us. Jake loves to visit my classroom and play with my students. Jake can’t wait to share and explore our yard and have another person to play catch and chase with.

My Family

My family and I are close. My parents live a few houses away, one brother lives with me and our other brother lives just a few minutes down the freeway. We are always hanging out together, watching TV, movies, going bowling or sharing anything that one of us enjoys.
Our extended family includes more cousins than I can count and many friends with young children so there will be no lack of playmates!
