Damian Wainschtein and Steve Zwillinger
Greetings from California!
Hi! We are Damian and Steve from beautiful San Francisco. Our hearts are ready to welcome a baby and we look forward to creating an open and honest relationship with you. We are very excited about open adoption because we want our child to know who they are, where they come from and that they have loving support from all of us. We would love to hear from you!

San Francisco and the Bay Area is a fantastic place to live and raise a child. As avid nature lovers, we look forward to the day we will visit the nearby beaches and parks with our child, and show them the majestic Sierra Mountains and Yosemite National Park. We also can’t wait to see our child discover nature, learn to ride a bike with us along the coast and go on hikes as a family in the trails that overlook San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Our home is a place to relax and spend time together — as well as to
share with friends and family. The neighborhood we live in is amazing,
full of diverse backgrounds coming together every day. Close to home
we love dining in cafes and restaurants, picking out fresh produce and
baked goods at the farmers markets, and listening to live outdoor music.
The neighborhood is considered the Jazz District of San Francisco,
and we hope that our child will share in the fun and lively atmosphere.
As for adventures, we have parks and playgrounds, the San Francisco
Zoo, and some of the coolest museums around. Our child won’t miss
a thing — from exploring Golden Gate Park…to playing soccer…
to simply lying on the grass with us, and watching the clouds drift by.
A shared sense of parenting
As a couple, we have lots of love to give, which is why we want to create a family. We want to celebrate our traditions together, from July 4th barbecues to Thanksgiving turkey with all of the trimmings. We are committed to providing our child with exciting new opportunities for growth, and to do everything in our power to raise a good, compassionate human being.
We both understand the importance of having good values and a true sense of humanity. It’s important to us that our child develops creatively
and intellectually to the best of their abilities, and to help him or her build
strong self-esteem. Education is also very important to us, and we will make sure to provide our child with the best possible school opportunities, to give him/her the skills to have a productive and successful professional career.
We chose Open Adoption because we think it is important for our child to know where they come from, who their birth parents are, and to know that having been placed for adoption was an act of love. We are committed to helping our child recognize, understand, and embrace their adoption story, and we will always support the healthy relationship they need with you.
A broader perspective
We love to travel and can’t wait to take our child all over the world. Every year, we will see our family on the East Coast and in Argentina. We’re excited to teach our child to speak Spanish, so they can talk to their Argentine grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins, who will be waiting every year for our visit.
Our day-to-day life is immersed with people from all walks of life, cultures, ethnicities and religions. We truly embrace diversity and think it’s important to give our child real world experiences through a variety of activities, so they can learn about other people and places.
Here for friends and family
We are blessed with wonderful friends and family.
Every year we travel to Argentina to see Damián’s family, which is a time filled with family barbecues, and lots of love and laughter. We especially love spending time with our many nieces and nephews, parents, siblings, and the rest of the family and friends. Grandparents Mirta and Juan Carlos are thrilled that they will have another grandchild, and are ready to come visit at a moment’s notice.
We also travel to the East Coast every year to see Steve’s family. His brother and sister-in-law, cousins, and a special aunt, make the visit full of meaningful moments and fun times exploring the East, or just sitting around and talking for hours on end.
Fortunately, all of these close relatives from the East Coast and Argentina visit us in San Francisco throughout the year.
Close friends are part of our day-to-day life. Many of our friends have children, and we like to spend time with them and their kids as much as possible. We frequently babysit, and that is our time to run with the kids in the playground, riding carrousels, and sharing a lot of fun moments.
Needless to say, all of our close friends and family are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our new baby. So are we!
We are better together
We both enjoy wonderful careers, Damián as a Policy Writer for a domestic airline, and Steve as an Art Director for a large bank. What matters most to us, though, is spending time together. We recognize how fortunate we are to have each other, and want to share that love with a child.
Cooking is a great love for Damián. He recreates family recipes and puts that love on the table for all to enjoy. One day, we imagine our child rolling out fresh pasta, forming empanadas, and getting a face full of flour while he or she learns the abc’s of cooking from Damián. Steve is an artist who loves to draw, design, and renovate. Everywhere he looks, he sees possibilities. Steve dreams of the day he will sit at a table and draw with our child.
It is our hope that all this creativity creates a warm, loving environment that nurtures a young spirit and fuels an active imagination.
