About Us

We’ve been happily married for ten years now and continue to be best friends. We immigrated to the United States from Chennai, India 15 years ago to pursue higher education. We’ve made this country our home and look forward to raising our family here.

We have a deep respect for different cultures and people with varying backgrounds. We strongly believe we can learn something from everyone. We also feel it is important to never forget where we came from. This is one of the reasons we are choosing open adoption, so our child will grow up with the knowledge of where they came from.

Both of us have been working as researchers for the same company for the last ten years. We are fortunate to work for a family-friendly company and will be able to stay home when our little one has a tummy ache or catch them in the school play.

Family

Most of our family lives in India. However, Don’s aunt and her family live in Seattle. We are very close with our family and visit them frequently. We also stay in touch regularly via email, phone, Facebook, text messages, and Skype. Both grandmas are looking forward to telling our child stories, playing with them, and buying them lots of toys! All of them are excited to welcome you to the family and spoil our new addition!

Community and Friends

Bloomington is a safe and cozy medium-sized town near Chicago. It is a great place to raise a family. We look forward to taking our child to the local park to play on the swings, feeding animals at the petting zoo, picnicking near the lake, and walking on the trails surrounded by trees, beautiful flowers, and birds. It will also be a lot of fun for our child to see the world’s biggest pumpkins, get dizzy on the Ferris wheel during the Pumpkin Festival, and to taste foods from all around the world at the International Fair!

We are eager to introduce our child to our diverse group of friends and their children. Some of our friends are adoptive parents themselves. Our child will have many playmates to play with, celebrate birthday parties with, and play hide-and-seek with. Everyone is extremely supportive of our decision to adopt and have already offered to babysit for us!

Our Promise

We are committed to teaching our child the value of education and the importance of working hard. We strongly believe in being good role models for respecting differences, being honest, counting our blessings, and handling tough situations.

We promise to:
- Love our child unconditionally
- Nurture our child in a way that they fully accept themseleves
- Always be there for our child as we go through the ups and downs of life
- Include you in our lives in a way you are comfortable
- Never let our child forget where they came from

About Preetha - by Don

Preetha is one of the kindest people I know. Since Preetha used to be a teacher, she knows how to make playing the keyboard, painting, or even doing math fun! She will be thrilled to play hide-and-seek or climb the monkey bars with our child! She is also very creative and would love to design costumes for our child during Halloween. Preetha enjoys watching movies and playing board games and cannot wait to watch Shrek or play Candy Land with our little one. I am positive that her deep sense of responsibility, empathy, selflessness, and patience will make her a great mom!
