Kenji & Lisa Freitas

We want to thank you for taking the time to read our letter. We know it must be very difficult to consider placing your baby in an open adoption and we respect and feel so much compassion for you. We hope through this letter that you are able to see what a fun and loving family we are and how much we look forward to parenting. We are excited to get to know you and develop an ongoing relationship with you throughout the years to come.

We met when Kenji was going to college with Lisa’s brother. When we first met we knew that we had found something very special. We have been married 13 years now and are best friends. Our relationship is filled with love, laughter and respect. We find humor in the same things and love to laugh. We are excited and committed to become parents and experience the joys of life through our child’s eyes.

Kenji is an amateur photographer. Whenever there is a family gathering, you can bet he will have his camera with him. He is looking forward to taking all the “first” baby photos so we will never have a shortage of pictures to share. Kenji also loves to draw and will have hours of fun creating paintings with our little one. Lisa enjoys reading, walking the dogs, and staying connected to friends and family but her greatest interest now is being a parent.

When we talk about adding a child to our family, we talk about all the things we would love to do as a family, such as going to the wonderful California zoos, parks, mountains and beaches. We know that there will be challenges too and we are just as excited to help our child build a strong foundation and lead by our example.

Kenji has worked as a PC Coordinator for 13 years. Lisa is pursuing a part-time career in the medical field but when our baby comes, she will initially be home full-time. Kenji’s job is very flexible so he will be able to take time off and bond with our baby when he or she arrives.

We both grew up in very close-knit families. Lisa’s brothers and sisters all live close by and we love getting together as much as we can. Her oldest brother lives in Iowa but we stay close to him through phone calls and emails. Kenji’s cousins, aunts and uncles also live in the area and we feel blessed to have them so close by. Everyone is excited about our new baby and can’t wait to play an active, loving role in our child’s life.

We live in family-oriented Antioch, California which is about 50 miles from San Francisco. Our diverse neighborhood is filled with school-aged children.

We share our home with our two miniature pinschers, Niko and Kona. They keep us on our toes and are wonderful around children. Our cozy and charming home is within a block from our community park, which will keep our child on the go. We are anxious to share all that California has to offer and plan to visit Disneyland as often as we can.
