Our Promise to You

We will build a family based on love, trust, and respect. With open adoption, we want you to be a part of our family in a way that’s comfortable for you. Your child will always know about the love and courage it took for you to make your decision, and you’ll always be a welcome part of our family.

We’ve learned with Sierra that it’s not always easy to be a parent. It’s a huge amount of work and responsibility, but also a source of incredible joy. We will shower our children with love and support, but we will also be firm when we need to be. We want them to grow up to be happy adults that can achieve their dreams, and we’ll support them in every way we can. Our parents were selfless with us. For example, Troy’s mom got a job cleaning houses just so she could buy him a good cello to help him become a better musician. We look to our own parents as models, and we strive to be the best parents we can possibly be.

Interests & Hobbies

We love traveling and everything outdoors, such as jogging, roughing it on backpacking trips, biking, and visiting other countries. We have been to Europe, Central America, South America, and most of the states together. Once our kids are old enough, we look forward to more world travel. Fabio loves to cook, and makes delicious Colombian and American food. Troy likes to run and go mountain biking on trails. We can’t wait to take our new child for a walk, teach him or her how to ride a bike, plant flowers together, bake cookies, and take our child to Colombia to meet the family!

Home, Community, and Family

We live in Dexter, a small town just outside of Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan where Troy works. We have a big yard with space to play, and live in a neighborhood full of parks and families with kids. We’re next to many trails that are perfect for walks and riding bikes. One reason we moved to this town is the fantastic schools, which are ranked among the best in the state and will open opportunities for our children. Our family is part of a wonderful church, and we look forward to our children joining the church choir or volunteering with its charities. We have annual passes to the Detroit Zoo, Hands-On Museum, and a petting zoo, which makes for fun family outings.

Our parents love Sierra, and can’t wait for another grandchild to shower with attention and gifts. Troy’s brother and sister are married with their own families, and Troy has seven nieces and nephews eager to play with a new cousin. Fabio’s family lives in both Colombia and the United States, and he has more nieces, nephews, and cousins than we can count. Between our two families, our new child will have no shortage of playmates. We love getting together with family on weekends so Sierra can play with her cousins, and we know that all of the kids can’t wait for a new cousin to play with!

About Us

We met on the dance floor of a club over 10 years ago, and fell in love at first sight. We’ve been together ever since, and were married five years ago with our families there to celebrate! Sierra was born in 2013, and adopting her was the most incredible experience in our lives. She’s an amazing little lady with an independent and beautiful spirit. She has a lot of love to share with a little sibling!

Sierra and Fabio can’t wait for a little brother or sister to join them! Troy was a classical musician before changing careers and going to med school, and is now a cardiologist at the University of Michigan, where he teaches students and cares for patients.
